Dr. Waseem Ghani

Assistant Professor

Dr. Waseem Ghani is an accomplished academician and researcher currently serving as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at DRIEMS Polytechnic Autonomous. He holds a Ph.D. from the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar, where his doctoral research focused on “Laboratory Studies on Hydrodynamics and Morphology of Sinuous Flexible Bed Channel.” His research contributes to a deeper understanding of flow characteristics, sediment dynamics, turbulence, and morphological processes in meandering and sinuous alluvial channels. Dr. Ghani completed his M.Tech. in Construction Technology and Management (CTM) from MIT, Bhopal, in 2018, with research focused on the application of Shape Memory Alloy (SMA), sisal fibre, and sag aggregate in road construction. His interdisciplinary academic background enables him to integrate fundamental engineering principles with innovative and sustainable approaches to civil engineering challenges. His primary areas of teaching and research include Water Resources Engineering, Water Resources Management, Hydraulics Engineering, Hydrodynamics, Fluvial Geomorphology, River Engineering, and Construction Technology and Management. His research interests particularly emphasize experimental investigation of flow behavior, turbulence characteristics, sediment transport, bank erosion, and morphological evolution in complex riverine systems. Dr. Ghani has actively contributed to teaching, academic administration, student mentoring, and research supervision. He has been involved in guiding B.Tech. and M.Tech. students and supporting research scholars, fostering research aptitude, technical competence, critical thinking, and practical understanding among future engineers. His teaching philosophy emphasizes the integration of theoretical knowledge with laboratory experimentation, field applications, and contemporary engineering practices. His academic contributions have been recognized through various achievements, including receiving the Best Poster Award at NIT Warangal. He has also actively participated in national and international conferences, presenting his research findings and engaging with researchers and academicians from diverse fields. In addition to his teaching and research activities, Dr. Ghani undertakes important departmental and academic responsibilities, including project coordination and student supervision. He is committed to academic excellence, continuous professional development, and institutional growth. With a strong passion for teaching, research, and innovation, Dr. Waseem Ghani is dedicated to developing sustainable and technologically advanced engineering solutions while mentoring and inspiring students to achieve excellence in their academic, research, and professional careers.
